Hollywood actor Jim Carrey took to Twitter to speak out against California Governor Jerry Brown and the new law requiring all schoolchildren be vaccinated.

The actor accused the U.S. Centres for Disease Control (CDC) of being “corrupt” and painted the Governor as a “corporate fascist that must be stopped.” Carrey said in a tweet that “California Gov says yet to poisoning children with mercury and aluminium in mandatory vaccines.” In another Twitter post, the comedian claimed he is not anti-vaccine, but anti-thimerosal and anti-mercury. Carrey urged his followers to go to traceamounts.com and watch the “shocking” documentary.

The Hollywood star unleashed the series of tweets hours after the bill was signed. “A trillion dollars buy a lot of expert opinions. Will it buy you?” Carrey asked his followers, as he stressed that he is “pro-vaccine/anti-neurotoxin.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the bill also removes vaccination exemptions on religious beliefs. The Governor’s legislation comes months after the Disneyland measles outbreak which infected 117 people.

Governor Brown said in a statement that science shows “vaccines dramatically protect children against a number of infectious and dangerous diseases” and that even though no medical intervention is risk-free, “immunization powerfully benefits and protects the community.”
