Despite the concerns surrounding the potential negative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on jobs, some workers have found ways to leverage AI tools to support their work and increase productivity. One such tool is ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, which has been embraced by workers in various industries.

Nick Patrick, the owner of a music production company called Primal Sounds Productions, has been using the ChatGPT bot to streamline his administrative tasks. He found that the bot can help him create contracts and write social media posts, saving him valuable time.

By using ChatGPT to fine-tune legal contracts for his clients, Patrick is able to automate a tedious and time-consuming task. Although the time saved for each contract may seem insignificant, the accumulated time savings can have a significant impact, especially when dealing with a large volume of contracts. Patrick believes that using ChatGPT in this way allows him to focus on more important aspects of his work.

However, Patrick also acknowledges that there are limitations to relying solely on AI tools. He has noticed that the social media posts generated by ChatGPT can sometimes become repetitive. As AI technology continues to advance, Patrick expects that these limitations will be addressed, and the tool’s capabilities will continue to improve.

In addition to administrative tasks, workers are also finding value in using ChatGPT for other purposes. Another worker, a freelance product marketer who prefers to remain anonymous, described ChatGPT as a “game changer.” Before discovering the tool, he was already overwhelmed with work, spending 12 to 16 hours a day trying to keep up with the demands of multiple clients. However, ChatGPT has allowed him to automate certain tasks and save precious time.

The marketer explained that by providing a summary document to ChatGPT, he can prompt the bot to generate marketing materials such as emails and social media posts. This has significantly reduced his workload, saving him three to four hours per client each week. The marketer acknowledged that ChatGPT may not be as good as human-generated content, but it provides a solid foundation that he can build upon.

The benefits of using ChatGPT extend beyond time savings. Before discovering the tool, the marketer considered hiring an intern to help with his workload. However, ChatGPT has obviated the need for additional personnel. The marketer emphasized that ChatGPT has not only saved him time but also alleviated mental stress.

These examples highlight how workers are embracing AI tools like ChatGPT to enhance their productivity and efficiency. While some may fear that AI could ultimately replace human workers, these workers demonstrate how AI can be a valuable tool to support and augment human capabilities. As AI technology continues to evolve, it is likely that more workers will find innovative ways to integrate AI tools into their workflows, ultimately enhancing their professional performance.
