Yango, the ride-hailing app owned by Russian tech group Yandex, has revealed plans to establish a global operations office in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company announced on Wednesday that the new facility, which will be based in Dubai Internet City, developed by TECOM Group, is set to open later this year.

According to a statement released by Yango, the establishment of the global operational office represents a significant milestone in overseeing the operations of its various services. These services include Yango ride-hailing, Yango Delivery (a delivery solutions provider), and Yango Tech (which offers proprietary technologies for retailers transitioning to an e-commerce framework). The company also mentioned that there will be the addition of other initiatives at a later date.

Yango’s decision to expand its operations to the UAE’s modern business environment highlights the country’s reputation as a progressive and innovation-friendly hub with world-class infrastructure. Adeniyi Adebayo, Yango’s chief business development officer, stated, “Dubai’s progressive, innovation-friendly business environment, world-class infrastructure, and strategic location make it the perfect choice for Yango to embark on a global expansion and Dubai Internet City.”

Formerly known as Yandex Taxi, Yango currently operates in more than 20 countries across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Just earlier this month, the tech giant launched its ride-hailing service in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.

Yango’s parent company, Yandex NV, is operated by the Netherlands-based Ridetech International. Yandex NV is the Dutch-registered holding company for the Russian IT conglomerate Yandex. Recently, Yandex has separated its Russian and foreign operations into separate businesses.

The establishment of a global operations office in the UAE reflects Yango’s commitment to expanding its reach and services to new markets, strengthening its position as a major player in the ride-hailing and delivery sectors. The move to Dubai Internet City signifies the company’s confidence in the emirate’s business ecosystem and its strategic location for international expansion.

The expansion of Yango’s operations is expected to bring economic benefits to the UAE, creating employment opportunities and contributing to the growth of its transportation and technology sectors.

In conclusion, Yango’s announcement to establish a global operations office in the UAE is a significant step for the company in overseeing its various services. With plans to open later this year in Dubai Internet City, Yango aims to expand its reach and services to new markets, further solidifying its position as a major player in the ride-hailing and delivery sectors. The move reflects the company’s confidence in Dubai’s business environment and strategic location, as well as its commitment to global expansion. This expansion is expected to bring positive economic impacts to the UAE, including job creation and sectoral growth.
