Something doesn’t make sense.
We’re hearing that major staff shortages are still affecting most of our industries.
That includes health, construction, childcare and hospitality.
It seems strange when the unemployment rate is 3.9%- the lowest in almost 50 years.
We are keen to hear from people- what’s happening in your profession?

Shortages are due to workers not allowed back in their jobs, unless they are vaccinated. Plain and Simple.
Lisa Griffiths
End the mandates!! it is awful how many have lost jobs due to vaccine mandates.
Annamari Kay
Hard to understand, but certainly a percentage of the available workforce is still not allowed to work due to private and public sector mandates. Mandates need to go and it will definitely ease the situation.
Denise Landers
So many qualified people unable to work due to vaccine mandates!!
Gail Endersby
Nurse of 35 years, two jabs, not having the third. Now running my own business in a complimentary therapy. Given up my career, given up my registration. My previous colleagues report burnout, carer fatigue, a hardening of the humanity needed in the caring profession. TBH, happy to be out of such a toxic environment.
Megan Harris
I was terminated due to mandates. I am a teacher with 18 years experience now unemployed. I also keep a close eye on Education and it has never been so bad in my whole career with staff shortages.
Mya Ace
Why won’t MSM journalists start reporting the truth??? I’m a healthcare worker of 24 years & haven’t been allowed to step foot on hospital campus since Nov 2021!
END THE MANDATES!!!
Andrew Levell
They know about the mandates but nothing changes. So what’s the agenda? A deliberate dissolving of the economy as we know it? Something is coming….
Geraldine Humphries
Waters There are thousands of teachers in Qld stood down due to mandates. I know 3 personally.
Sarah Stafford
Being short of healthcare staff is kind of like drunk driving. Some of the time people may get away fine, but all of the time people’s lives are at risk.
Sarah Jane
End the mandates and let people back into those industries.
Peter Winfield
They don’t count the unvaxxed that aren’t allowed to work in the official unemployed figures.
Barbara Moss
3 of us had to leave our volunteer positions that we had had for over 10yrs in Community Transport because of the booster mandate on 12th April and since then they still have no one to take our place
Helen Hadge
Im in retail and its shocking atm. They cant get enough staff to work.
The unemployment figures dont add up. So many people i know are out of work because of vaxx mandates. Im working on an exemption atm otherwise id be out of a job aswell. The % of people vaxxed isn’t true either imo.
Renee Jacqueline Doyle
Dept of Education has supposedly dropped mandates yet are still requiring employees to be double vaxxed – not sure how this works ?
Sarah Stafford
I work at a major hospital and I’ve never seen staff shortages the way it has been, Particularly over the past 9 months and no Covid is not to blame most of the time.
Bec Sweeney
It’s pretty obvious they are lying to us about the affect mandates have had.
I have so many friends that are teachers, nurses, aged care workers, hair dressers, shire workers….all out of work because they refuse to let the Government fill them full of unproven/ineffective solution
