Many Queenslanders Simply Don’t Know Most CV-19 Measures Have Been Revoked and Businesses Simply Do Not Have To Implement Such Measures

By Queensland Government

Important

From Friday 17 December 2021, customers will be required to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination status when they check into many Queensland locations and businesses that will be restricted to fully vaccinated customers and visitors.

Latest restrictions

Stage 3 restrictions now apply to all of Queensland.

Restrictions on businesses have been eased due to the great job Queenslanders have done in limiting community transmission of COVID-19. There is no longer a requirement for restricted businesses to operate under a COVID Safe Industry Plan or any of the ‘industry specific’ COVID Safe Checklists.

COVID Safe Industry Plans and industry specific checklists have now been replaced by the COVID Safe Checklist for Restricted Businesses (the Checklist).

The Checklist outlines the control measures that need to be implemented by restricted businesses to keep staff and customers COVID safe, and will promote consistency between different industry sectors.

Restricted businesses must ensure that a signed copy of the Checklist is displayed at the business premises.

COVID Safe Checklist for Restricted Businesses

All restricted businesses must operate in accordance with the COVID Safe Checklist for Restricted Businesses.

Restrictions for businesses include:

  • no more than 1 person per 2m2 indoors, or
  • up to 100% seated venue capacity provided patrons or guests are in ticketed and allocated seating
  • collection of contact tracing information using the Check In Qld app
  • regular and thorough cleaning
  • availability of hand washing facilities or hand sanitiser.

Restricted businesses must ensure that a signed copy of the Checklist is displayed at the business premises.

Businesses should refer to the resources to the right for specific guidance on implementing each element of the Checklist.

Note: Where the Chief Health Officer has issued updates to the public health directions, which differ from requirements outlined in published Approved COVID Safe Checklists, the relevant Direction(s) prevails to the extent of any inconsistency.

Revoked COVID Safe Industry Plans

The revoked COVID Safe Industry Plans are available for businesses to refer to, should they wish to implement some, or all, of the measures in the plans. However, it should be noted that compliance with these plans is no longer mandatory.
