Australian Tourists Increasingly Heading Further North to Live or Holiday Than Traditional Sunshine or Gold Coast
Covid caused many Australians who were blocked from leaving Australia, leading many to discover their own country more.
This has led many to venture further north than the traditional tourist hotspots of the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast to new areas such as the Capricorn Coast around Yeppoon and the Great Keppel Islands (a 50-minute flight from Brisbane to Rockhampton- a 35-minute drive from Yeppoon)
Great Keppel was famous in the 80s as a party island that was promoted by the successful “Get Wrecked at Keppel”.
These days Yeppoon is known as the new Bryon Bay and has the famous surf lakes opening to the wider public next year. A man-made wave surfing lake where top surfers teach newbies how to be champion surfers.
Byfield’s National Parks a 25-minute drive north of Yeppoon is attracting a lot of tourists as well for its stunning freshwater swimming holes and sun tropical rainforests.
Airlie Beach a 5-hour drive also remains popular with both Australian and overseas tourists.
If looking for a vacation in Yeppoon or Byfield’s to explore the area including the Keppel Islands there are some stunning homes or farm escapes available.
