Build a 27 km Tunnel 800 Metres Underground in a Delicate National Park Ecosystem – What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

WHAT A SURPRISE ?
Build a 27 km tunnel 800 metres underground in a delicate national park ecosystem – what could possibly go wrong ?
The ridiculously named “Snowy 2.0” is only economical with uneconomical electricity prices.
It’s a giant white elephant – a political fix that It destroys energy – it doesn’t create it.
Prime Minister’s Snowy Hydro 2.0 project an ‘energy destroyer’: Craig Kelly
Liberal MP Craig Kelly says the Snowy Hydro 2.0 project, spruiked by the prime minister as a low-carbon emissions job creating initiative, is “a destroyer of energy not a creator of energy”.
Snowy 2.0 is a nation-building renewable energy project which will aim to provide on-demand, cost effective energy, and large-scale storage.
The project involves plans to link two existing dams and pump water to the upper dam when there is surplus energy production and release the water back to the lower dam to generate energy when electricity demand is high.
Mr Kelly said a potential problem with the project was “you lose up to 50 per cent of the energy that you actually use in the system”.
Mr Kelly said he was yet to be convinced of the economic case for Snow 2.0.
“The only way it makes economic sense is if you can buy the electricity for virtually nothing in the middle of the night,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
Mr Kenny said this was “not the ringing political endorsement” which would be expected of Coalition MP’s in the lead-up to the Eden Monaro by-election, but Mr Kelly insisted he was committed to calling it as he sees it.
