According to a Facebook post, a disgruntled former skipper, that was fired for gross incompetence, stoops to a new low in his grudge in slandering a super yacht, beached from bad weather in Yeppoon.
A former skipper, Richie Cunningham, of Richies luxury Boating, in what appears to be a desperate bid to attract followers for his struggling enterprise, tries to slander a super yacht beached from bad weather in Yeppoon. He purports to be a competent skipper in his Facebook marketing, but allegedly could barely even park a boat. It brings into question, how some skippers even attain a license to operate larger boats. However, it’s been confirmed that the same license for small boats can be used for much larger ones, despite the extra level of skill required. This puts the public at risk, said one industry insider. The former sacked skipper, has allegedly damaged several boats, after claiming to be a competent skipper, yet it appears not.
Another industry insider, said that boat owners need to be careful when hiring a skipper, as just because they have a license, does not mean they are competent in driving a Boat, especially larger ones and boats don’t come with brakes like a car or truck. Legal action is reportedly pending against Richie Cunningham for misleading a former boat owner into believing he was a competent skipper, when allegedly in reality his standards of operating a boat is equivalent to that of a tinnie operator, said one Facebook user.
Many have attacked him for him slandering a stricken yacht, to promote his own business. The industry insider said, there should be a blacklist database for incompetent operators like Cunningham, so other innocent boat owners do not suffer such damages from their negligence. As sadly, skippers often walk away from causing damages scott free, leaving owners to suffer large financial losses.
Richie Cunningham was seen on his Facebook post standing on the beach in Yeppoon, with the beached Superyacht in the background, that he was slandering, close to the washed ashore tender from the Superyacht. Locals had also reported the motor had been stolen and other property looted.
The Gold Coast Review isn’t stating that Richie Cunningham, the disgruntled former skipper, who it seems holds a grudge to this day, was involved in the theft of the motor from the tender, and looting of the Superyacht. However, it has been reported to the Police to be investigated.
