The nation has drifted so far from its core values that the founding fathers would not recognize the Republic they established. Many Americans recognize that something has gone horribly wrong, but they believe that sending the right people to Washington is the answer. However, a recent Rasmussen poll reveals a disturbing trend among likely U.S. voters.
According to the poll, 40% of likely U.S. voters believe that Joe Biden must win the next presidential election “or the United States is doomed.” This includes 25% who strongly agree. Similarly, 45% of likely U.S. voters believe that Donald Trump must win the next presidential election “or the United States is doomed,” with 26% strongly agreeing. Astonishingly, 85% of likely U.S. voters believe that our nation is “doomed” if their preferred candidate does not win the election.
The stakes in the upcoming 2024 election are incredibly high, and the side that loses will be devastated. However, while campaigning takes precedence, the fabric of society is unraveling before our eyes. In Chicago, criminals roam the streets in broad daylight, searching for victims to prey upon. Mafia-style killings have become commonplace, with brazen shootings happening at gas stations and other public places.
It’s not just Chicago; major cities on the west coast are also experiencing turmoil. A video of a San Francisco woman recounting her experience of being spat on and threatened with rape went viral. She expressed her constant fear and the lack of safety she feels living in the city. Similar sentiments are shared by many San Francisco residents who find themselves questioning their safety day and night.
Oakland, too, is plagued by skyrocketing crime rates. A lifelong resident, Kristin Cook, made the heartbreaking decision to leave the city she called home her entire life. Burdened by fear, she could no longer bear to step outside her own house. Burglary rates have gone up by 41% and robberies by more than 20% in the city. Rape offenses have also seen a 12% increase.
Instead of focusing on fixing these problems and addressing the moral decay eating away at the nation, President Joe Biden continues to allocate massive amounts of money to foreign nations. It is reported that he has given over two billion dollars to the Taliban in the past two years, despite their takeover of Afghanistan following the U.S. withdrawal. This pales in comparison to the funds given to Ukraine.
While economic problems are growing rapidly, the moral decay in society poses an even greater crisis. This decay is evident both in major cities and rural areas. A recent example of this moral decay comes from Texas, where dozens of dead horses and dogs were discovered at a ranch. Animal cruelty had been reported numerous times in the past, but the reports were not taken seriously. This speaks to a deeply sick society.
Evidence of this sickness can be found in the immense popularity of pornographic content. Pornhub, often referred to as the “YouTube of pornography,” receives more visits than Amazon or Netflix. In 2019, the site had a staggering 42 billion visits, with 115 million visits per day. Many of these visitors are young adults and children, highlighting the grim reality of our society.
The United States is at a pivotal point in its history. The future hangs in the balance as political divisions deepen and societal decay worsens. It is crucial for Americans to recognize the gravity of the situation and work towards finding solutions that will restore the nation to its former glory. Only then can the course of history be changed, and the decline of America halted.
