Recent Instagram footage shared by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggests that the crippling inflation Americans are currently facing is nothing more than propaganda. However, many are criticizing her stance, including her own constituents in the 14th district of New York.
Ocasio-Cortez, along with other far-left members, is reluctant to admit that inflation is a genuine issue, as it would reflect poorly on President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party as a whole. Her video, which originated from New Zealand’s left-wing Aotearoa Liberation League, suggests that the supposed propaganda surrounding inflation is meant to protect “greedy shareholders” who are ultimately responsible for the rising cost of living.
However, when The Post interviewed individuals residing in Ocasio-Cortez’s district, located in Queens and the southeastern Bronx, they unanimously reported experiencing economic hardships. Many argued that the Biden administration should not be exempt from blame. Latisha Law, a 41-year-old single mother of three and grandmother, and a certified nursing assistant, expressed her financial struggles since the pandemic. Law acknowledged that inflation is a real issue and attributed fault not only to big corporations but also to the government itself. She rhetorically questioned AOC’s understanding of the situation and suggested that AOC should spend time in low-income housing projects to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by individuals in such communities.
It is important to note that the majority of Americans perceive inflation as a significant problem. According to an #EconWatch poll on Twitter, a remarkable 65% of Americans believe that inflation is a “very big problem” and are witnessing the negative consequences of Bidenomics and big government.
However, the criticism and discontent are unlikely to lead to any real change until the Democrats are out of power. This might explain why AOC is eager to brand inflation as nothing more than propaganda.
In conclusion, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Instagram video dismissing inflation as propaganda has faced criticism, particularly from her own constituents in the 14th district of New York. These individuals have voiced their personal struggles and argued that inflation is a genuine problem that implicates both big corporations and the government. A majority of Americans also perceive inflation as a significant issue. Nonetheless, substantial change is unlikely until the Democrats are no longer in power, which may explain AOC’s reluctance to acknowledge the severity of the inflation problem.
