Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland recently attended the “Global Progress Action” summit, a globalist gathering that brings together progressive political leaders and experts from various countries. Alongside Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other heads of state, Freeland used her platform to highlight the accomplishments of the Liberal Party, including their plans to bring in one million permanent and temporary immigrants in 2022 and their proposed actions against grocery retailers.

During her speech, Freeland emphasized Canada’s progressive policies and the need to maintain this trajectory instead of succumbing to the rise of far-right populism. She particularly focused on the government’s approach to addressing the cost-of-living crisis in Canada. Just last week, Trudeau threatened to tax grocery retailers in an effort to lower prices, despite industry profit margins being as low as 2% to 5%.

“Our government expects our country’s largest grocers to take a Team Canada approach, and do their part to get prices down and keep them down,” Freeland declared.

However, this proposal is seen as contradictory, given the Trudeau government’s recent increase in the federal carbon tax. This tax raises the production and shipping costs for farmers and truckers, ultimately driving up food prices for consumers. Several premiers from the Atlantic provinces have even urged the federal government to halt this tax due to its negative impact on fuel prices.

In her speech, Freeland also touted the Liberal government’s immigration policies, which have resulted in over one million new Canadians entering the country through temporary immigration programs and 500,000 new permanent immigrants. She claimed that this approach is vital for addressing the challenges posed by an aging population and for boosting Canada’s economy.

However, these words ring hollow for many Canadians who are currently grappling with a severe national housing crisis. The influx of immigrants has been directly linked to the skyrocketing housing prices in the country.

Rebel News journalists Alexa Lavoie and Lincoln Jay attended the summit and confronted Freeland and other left-wing leaders about their hypocritical actions. They pressed the leaders on their support for policies that disproportionately affect ordinary citizens while they themselves enjoy privileges and exemptions.

Overall, Freeland’s participation in the “Global Progress Action” summit and her speech highlighted the Liberal Party’s progressive agenda, including their immigration policies and proposed actions against grocery retailers. However, these policies have drawn criticism for their potential negative impact on Canadians, particularly in terms of the cost of living and the housing crisis. As the government continues to push its progressive agenda, it remains to be seen how it will address these pressing concerns and provide relief to its citizens.
