The United States Supreme Court handed down a landmark decision on Thursday, ruling 6-3 that Harvard University’s Affirmative Action program, which gave preferential treatment to black applicants over white ones, is unconstitutional. This ruling effectively bans the practice of affirmative action in colleges and universities across the nation. However, the decision has sparked controversy and concern among Democrats, who are now threatening the Supreme Court and raising doubts about their willingness to relinquish power if they lose to former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling, President Joe Biden made comments criticizing the legitimacy of the court itself, saying it is “not a normal court.” These remarks from President Biden appear to echo similar threats made by former President Franklin D. Roosevelt to pack the Supreme Court with additional justices.

Many have expressed worry and apprehension about the left’s reaction to the ruling. Twitter user Charles R Downs voiced his concern, writing, “The crazy reactions from Harvard and Joe Biden over today’s SCOTUS ruling on affirmative action have me concerned that the Left will not give up power when they lose to Trump in 2025.” This sentiment is reflective of the broader worry that the left may not peacefully transfer power if they are defeated in future elections.

In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling, Harvard University release a statement suggesting that they would choose to ignore the decision. The statement emphasized the importance of admitting and educating a diverse student body that reflects various facets of human experience. Harvard’s position seems to indicate a refusal to comply with the court’s decision on affirmative action.

It is noteworthy that all three justices appointed by former President Trump voted in favor of striking down affirmative action. In response to the ruling, Trump expressed his satisfaction on his social media platform TruthSocial, writing, “This is a great day for America. People with extraordinary ability and everything else necessary for success, including future greatness for our Country, are finally being rewarded. This is the ruling everyone was waiting and hoping for, and the result was amazing. It will also keep us competitive with the rest of the world. Our greatest minds must be cherished, and that’s what this wonderful day has brought. We’re going back to all merit-based—and that’s the way it should be!”

The open defiance of the Supreme Court’s authority by both the sitting President of the United States and a prestigious American university has raised concerns among many. There is growing unease about the left’s actions and their potential refusal to relinquish power if they are defeated by Trump in the 2024 election.

Adding to these concerns is the Democrats’ alleged interference in the 2024 election. Joe Biden’s Department of Justice arresting Trump is seen by some as a significant step towards authoritarianism, second only to refusing to leave office in the event of losing an election.

In conclusion, the Supreme Court’s ruling declaring Harvard University’s Affirmative Action program unconstitutional has garnered reactions from political figures and institutions on both sides of the aisle. The controversy surrounding the ruling and the concerns raised about the left’s response have led to a broader discussion about the peaceful transfer of power and the potential consequences of political disputes in the United States.
