Journalist Laura Loomer has revealed that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is planning a fundraising tour in Texas, hosted by major donors affiliated with the Bush family. Loomer’s investigative work has shed light on the connections between Texas billionaire Dick Weekley, who is listed as a host for a fundraiser in Houston on September 20th, and his support for Texas Speaker Dade Phelan. Phelan recently fulfilled the Bush family’s interests by impeaching and attempting to remove Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the only state AG who made a serious effort to challenge the 2020 election results at the United States Supreme Court. It is worth noting that Paxton defeated George P. Bush, a member of the Bush family, in the Texas GOP AG primary in 2022.
Loomer has shared a photo of the flyer for the upcoming DeSantis fundraiser, where Dick Weekley is identified as a member of the host committee. Loomer emphasizes Weekley’s role in supporting the recent push to impeach Paxton. According to records, Weekley donated $25,000 to Dade Phelan, and his organization, Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC, also contributed the same amount to Phelan’s campaign.
In light of these connections, Loomer poses a crucial question: Could the efforts to impeach Ken Paxton have been orchestrated by donors of Ron DeSantis in a Presidential election year? Given the Texas AG’s strong support for former President Trump, it raises suspicion about attempts to undermine Trump’s chances in Texas.
It is important to note the significance of Texas in the 2024 GOP primary, as it has the second-largest number of delegates at stake, with a total of 162 delegates. DeSantis and his supporters have previously been accused of attempting to manipulate the primary process in California, which has the highest number of delegates. Loomer previously exposed the plans of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and DeSantis allies to allocate a substantial number of delegates to the second-place finisher in the California GOP primary. Thanks to Loomer’s reporting, Trump supporters in California successfully pressured the state’s GOP to revise their rules.
Given the revelations in Texas, Loomer warns Trump supporters to remain vigilant, as it appears that the political elite may be trying to influence the state’s outcome to the detriment of President Trump and his supporters. The upcoming fundraising event with DeSantis’ involvement and the presence of major Bush donors raises concerns about attempts to steer the state away from Trump’s influence.
It is vital for the public to be aware of potential attempts to manipulate the democratic process, particularly in major elections. Loomer’s investigative work serves as a valuable tool in uncovering these behind-the-scenes actions and encouraging transparency. Continued scrutiny and vigilance are necessary to ensure a fair and democratic political landscape.
