Former federal prosecutor Kash Patel has expressed his disgust with the conduct of the Justice Department in the Hunter Biden case, accusing Hunter’s attorney of obstructing justice. Patel’s strong comments come in response to a Politico article that revealed a letter from Hunter Biden’s former attorney, Chris Clark, to federal prosecutors. In the letter, Clark threatened to put President Joe Biden on the stand as a fact witness in the case against his son involving alleged tax evasion and illegal gun possession crimes.

The letter, dated October 2022, was sent to U.S. Attorney David Weiss’ office. Weiss has since been named special counsel in the matter. In the letter, Clark argued that having a sitting president testify at a criminal trial would not be justified and could potentially lead to a constitutional crisis. Clark left Hunter Biden’s legal team last week, stating that he may become a fact witness regarding the case.

According to a Western Journal report last month, Clark believed that he had successfully negotiated a plea deal with Weiss. The deal would have involved Hunter pleading guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and the gun possession charge being dropped if he remained drug-free for two years. Additionally, the deal would have granted Hunter immunity from future prosecution regarding his overseas business dealings.

However, the plea deal fell apart when the judge questioned its details in late July, leading Hunter to plead not guilty to all charges.

Podcast host Benny Johnson interviewed Kash Patel and asked him if he was ashamed of the conduct of his former employer. Patel, who is a former national security prosecutor of the DOJ and also worked in the Department of Defense during the Trump administration, responded by saying that he was not offended but disgusted by the two-tiered system of justice within the DOJ. He argued that if a public defender were to threaten to cause a constitutional crisis to avoid charges against their client, it would be considered obstruction of justice, a federal offense.

Patel stated that the leaked letter and email correspondence between Clark and the DOJ were not a coincidence. He believed that Hunter Biden’s attorney was intentionally leaking these documents to make the DOJ look bad. Patel also emphasized that if President Biden were to take the witness stand for Hunter, it would create a circus-like scenario and potentially lead to Joe Biden committing multiple felonies by lying under oath.

He further contended that the only way to challenge and defeat the DOJ and FBI is to embarrass them publicly, which he commended Chris Clark for doing. Patel highlighted the unprecedented nature of Clark’s threat, stating that the president of the United States holds more power than a terrorist and leveraging that power to protect a defendant is unheard of.

Patel expressed skepticism that a plea deal could be salvaged from the current situation and predicted that Hunter Biden would go to trial. However, he believed that the trial would likely be delayed until after the next election cycle to avoid interfering with the electoral process. He compared this approach to the ongoing prosecution of former President Trump, which he argued is politically motivated.

Patel concluded by suggesting that the American people will see through the politically motivated prosecution of Trump and that justice, as Thomas Jefferson said, “cannot sleep forever.”

In summary, Kash Patel strongly condemns the conduct of the Justice Department in the Hunter Biden case, accusing Hunter’s attorney of obstructing justice. He believes that the leaked letter was intentionally released to make the DOJ look bad and calls for public embarrassment as a means to challenge the DOJ and FBI. Patel also predicts that Hunter Biden will go to trial and criticizes the potential politicization of the judicial process.
