In a recent speech at a Brooklyn Church, New York City Mayor Eric Adams made a bizarre statement, declaring himself as “the symbol of black manhood.” This is not the first time Adams has made highly unusual remarks. He previously claimed that God spoke to him 30 years ago and told him he would become the Mayor of New York City. Adams was also recently exposed by The New York Times for carrying a stock image in his wallet and falsely claiming that it is a photo of a police officer and friend who was murdered in the 1980s.
During his speech, Adams lashed out at the media and others who have questioned him, proclaiming, “I’m the symbol of black manhood in this city, in this country and what it represents. I am the mayor of the most powerful city on the globe and people need to recognize that.” These remarks came after Adams compared an elderly Jewish woman to an antebellum plantation owner when she asked him about rent increases in rent-controlled apartments.
Adams’ peculiar statements and actions are becoming more frequent. He initially ran for Mayor of New York City as a supposed law and order candidate, gaining support from the uni-party establishment. However, the city continues to struggle with increasing violent crime rates.
At a Father’s Day event at another New York City church, Adams recounted his vision from over 30 years ago in which he claimed God told him he would become the Mayor of New York City on January 1st, 2022. According to Adams, he woke up in a cold sweat and God spoke to his heart, stating, “You are going to be the mayor January 1, 2022.” Adams even went around the city telling everyone about his future mayoral position, though many dismissed his claims.
It is not just Adams’ outlandish statements that are causing concern. A July 6th report from The New York Times revealed that Adams carries a photo in his wallet, claiming it depicts fallen NYPD officer Robert Venable. Adams has used this photo during multiple speeches, including one at the NYPD’s police academy graduation ceremony. However, the report states that both the photo and the story associated with it are fabricated. Furthermore, Adams’ staff allegedly printed the photo from the internet and splashed coffee on it to create the appearance of age.
These revelations about Adams raise further questions about his credibility and integrity as the Mayor of New York City. It is important to scrutinize his actions and statements, especially when they involve false representation and questionable behavior. The public deserves a leader who can be trusted and who prioritizes the well-being of the city over self-promotion.
As Adams continues to make headlines with his erratic behavior, it is crucial for New Yorkers to question whether he is truly capable of effectively governing the most powerful city in the world.
