Los Angeles, a supposed sanctuary city, is facing backlash as Texas sends less than 500 illegal border crossers to their region. The Los Angeles City Council is so furious about this influx that they are contemplating pursuing legal and even criminal actions against Texas and Governor Greg Abbott. However, it is worth noting that smaller border towns regularly deal with much larger numbers of illegal immigrants.

According to ABC News in Los Angeles, the City Council recently approved a motion requesting the City Attorney’s Office to investigate whether Governor Greg Abbott committed any crimes when he sent 42 migrants on a 23-hour bus ride to downtown L.A. in June. In addition, they sought potential civil legal action against the state of Texas, Abbott, and any other entities involved in planning and executing the migrant busing operation to Union Station on June 14. The motion passed with a 13-0 vote, with Council members Eunisses Hernandez, Nithya Raman, Monica Rodriguez, and Hugo Soto-Martinez initially introducing it on June 16. It is noteworthy that Council members Hernandez and Curren Price were absent during the vote. Since June, Texas has sent a total of 11 buses carrying 435 migrants to Los Angeles.

This news has sparked a contentious debate. Some argue that Los Angeles, a sanctuary city, should not be up in arms over a relatively small number of 435 illegal immigrants. Critics deem it hypocritical for the city to support sanctuary policies but object to the arrival of migrants. As tensions mount, a video report has emerged, shedding light on the issue.

Despite the controversy, there are voices suggesting that Governor Greg Abbott should send even more buses filled with migrants to Los Angeles. This suggestion aims to highlight the discrepancy between the city’s proclaimed sanctuary status and its opposition to hosting a limited number of illegal immigrants.

The situation has been further exacerbated by Twitter posts from an account called “NEWS MAKER.” One post shares a statement from Abbott’s spokesperson, Andrew Mahaleris, criticizing the Los Angeles City Council. Mahaleris accuses them of hypocrisy, referencing their unanimous vote to become a sanctuary city and welcome migrants just a few months prior in June.

In conclusion, the controversy surrounding illegal immigrants in Los Angeles continues to escalate. The Los Angeles City Council’s decision to pursue legal and criminal actions against Texas and Governor Greg Abbott has ignited a heated debate. While the city claims to uphold sanctuary policies, the arrival of 435 migrants has triggered outrage among some council members. As tensions persist, Twitter exchanges intensify, with both sides accusing the other of hypocrisy. It remains to be seen how this clash between Los Angeles and Texas will unfold and if it will impact the city’s sanctuary status.
