President Trump has announced that he will be appealing Judge Tanya Chutkan’s decision to set a trial date for March 4, 2024, in the Washington DC case against him for speaking out against the alleged stolen 2020 election. This decision comes after Trump was hit with four counts in Jack Smith’s January 6 case: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
The Gateway Pundit reported on the hearing this morning and highlighted Judge Chutkan’s trial date. It is worth noting that Judge Chutkan has a history of left-leaning tendencies. She worked at the same law office as Hunter Biden and donated over $3,000 to Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns from 2008 to 2012. This raises concerns about potential bias in the case against President Trump.
Trump’s legal team had requested an April 2026 trial date but was only given a two-month extension by Judge Chutkan. The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Joe Biden’s White House Counsel’s office had quietly met with Special Counsel Jack Smith’s aides just weeks before Biden himself was indicted on 37 charges related to classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago. President Trump criticized this meeting, calling it “an absolute No No!”
In response to Judge Chutkan’s decision, President Trump took to Truth Social to express his frustration and announced his intention to appeal. He referred to Jack Smith and his team as “deranged thugs” who had been working on this alleged witch hunt for almost three years. Trump criticized the timing of the indictment, claiming it was brought in the middle of Crooked Joe Biden’s political campaign against him, suggesting election interference. He also accused the judge of being biased and claimed that the two-month extension she granted was designed to align with Super Tuesday, a day of primary elections.
President Trump’s Truth Social post also questioned the legitimacy of the indictment, arguing that it was based almost entirely on the findings of the January 6th Unselect Committee, which he referred to as “Marxists, Fascists, and Political Hacks.” He accused these committee members, who had previously lied about Russia and Ukraine, of purposely and illegally destroying and deleting evidence related to the January 6th incident. Trump demanded that Deranged Jack Smith, as he referred to the Special Counsel, criminally charge the committee.
The Gateway Pundit will continue to provide updates on the ongoing persecution of President Donald J. Trump. As Trump appeals Judge Chutkan’s decision and prepares to defend himself against the charges, the case continues to garner attention and raise concerns about political bias. The trial date of March 4, 2024, which falls just before Super Tuesday, adds another layer of controversy to the proceedings. The outcome of this case will likely have far-reaching implications and will be closely watched by both Trump supporters and his detractors.
