Texas Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson has experienced a surge in fundraising despite being recently detained while trying to provide medical assistance at a rodeo. In fact, Jackson’s fundraising in the second quarter of this year surpassed that of all other GOP House members in Texas.
One possible reason for this increase in support could be Jackson’s willingness to speak publicly about President Biden’s diminished mental capacity. Breitbart News reports that Jackson, a second-term firebrand congressman and former White House doctor to two presidents, is on a fundraising tear this year, with many wondering if he is preparing for a statewide run soon.
In the second quarter alone, Jackson raised over a million dollars, the highest amount among any GOP House member in Texas. Moreover, for the entire first half of 2023, Jackson emerged as the top online fundraiser among House GOP members who are not in leadership positions. Impressively, he received 86,313 small-dollar unitemized contributions with an average donation of $14.86, totaling $1,282,538. This number of donations is even higher than what many presidential campaigns, including those of former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and former Vice President Mike Pence, have seen.
It is worth noting that Jackson, despite his impressive fundraising, is not running for president. Yet, he surpassed the total number of donors (40,000) required to qualify for the first debate stage at the Republican National Committee (RNC) debate next week, further showcasing his growing popularity.
Perhaps Jackson’s positive spirit and outspokenness on conservative issues have contributed to his rising support. His recent tweets highlight his concerns about attempts to criminalize conservative news and his endorsement of former President Trump as the only candidate capable of defeating what he perceives as a corrupt FBI targeting American citizens.
With his growing fundraising success and increasing popularity, it seems that Jackson has big things in his future. Will he consider a statewide run in Texas? Only time will tell.
