Texas GOP Congressman Troy Nehls recently participated in a trip to Ukraine sponsored by the Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI), an organization with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Taihe Institute. HDI, which has been compared to the CCP’s Council on Foreign Relations, is directed by Mark Epstein, the brother of the late Jeffrey Epstein, who was involved in international child exploitation. Nehls, like other members of Congress, has refused to answer questions about his connection to HDI.
During the trip to Ukraine, Nehls met with high-ranking members of the Ukrainian government, including President Volodymyr Zelensky. The trip was also sponsored by a Moldovan orphanage operator named Sam Alaverdov, whose charity, ACFHPUM, has refused to provide required non-profit documents. This trip to Ukraine is part of HDI’s pattern of associating with orphanages in third-world and war-torn countries, where child trafficking is known to occur.
In addition to Ukraine, Nehls and other GOP representatives, including Rep. Don Bacon, Doug Lamborn, and August Pfluger, traveled to Uzbekistan on another HDI-sponsored trip. The purpose of this trip was to discuss creating new American investments in Uzbekistan. They met with Uzbekistani President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who has received criticism for running a system of slavery where children are forced to pick cotton under the threat of death. Vladimir Norov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, is a member of the CCP-PLA-run Taihe Institute’s Executive Council.
It is worth noting that HDI also has longstanding ties to Israeli intelligence. This is interesting in light of Nehls’ relationships with rumored Israeli intelligence operatives Matthew Tyrmand and Jonny Daniels, both of whom are connected to HDI.
Despite portraying himself as an America First Congressman, Nehls used the events of January 6th, particularly the shooting of Ashli Babbitt, to promote himself on social media. He posted a staged photograph of himself standing with Capitol Police officers during the demonstrations, touting his support for law enforcement.
The article raises questions about Nehls’ associations with HDI, a group with ties to the CCP, as well as his connections to individuals linked to Israeli intelligence. It also highlights his use of the January 6th events for self-promotion. Although Nehls has refused to address these concerns, they raise important issues about potential foreign influence and questionable relationships within the US Congress.
