Roger Stone, a long-time political strategist and ally of former President Donald Trump, has warned Trump about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a video clip recorded in April 2022. Stone posted the video clip on Twitter as part of a “Throwback Thursday” post, describing it as “History in the making.”
In the video, Stone can be heard telling President Trump, “Ron DeSantis is a piece of sh*t.” At the time, DeSantis had not officially announced his intention to challenge Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Stone’s tweet accompanying the video clip read, “Roger Stone accurately tells President @realDonaldTrump that @GovRonDeSantis will turn out to be a POS.”
The video clip quickly gained attention on social media, with users sharing it extensively. One Twitter user referred to it as a “VERY important piece of American history” and included a link to the video.
As DeSantis positions himself for the 2024 presidential race, he is facing criticism and pushback from members of his own party. Many have labeled him as the hand-selected candidate of the globalist GOP establishment, pointing to his support from figures such as Paul Ryan, Jeb Bush, and Karl Rove. These individuals have openly expressed their desire to use DeSantis to prevent President Trump from securing another GOP nomination.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that DeSantis owes his position as the Governor of Florida to Trump’s endorsement during the primary and general election. This endorsement played a significant role in propelling DeSantis ahead in the polls and securing his victory.
As opposition to DeSantis continues to grow, with President Trump dominating the 2024 GOP primary polls, DeSantis’s team appears to be growing desperate. They have resorted to employing dirty political tricks to maintain their support base.
One such example is the alleged use of a sock puppet Twitter account by DeSantis Press Secretary Bryan Griffin. The account, under the name “Max Nordau,” is said to have attacked the Trump campaign and its supporters. Numerous analyses of Griffin and the Max Nordau account seem to substantiate these claims.
Furthermore, DeSantis’s team has employed deepfake AI images to create a false portrayal of President Trump. They even released a campaign ad featuring doctored images, claiming they represented the “real life Trump.”
As the race for the 2024 presidential nomination intensifies, DeSantis finds himself in a precarious position. Trump’s popularity within the party leaves DeSantis trailing behind, potentially falling behind other contenders such as Chris Christie or Vivek Ramaswamy. The growing backlash against DeSantis, coupled with his campaign’s questionable tactics, has raised concerns about his ability to secure the nomination.
It remains to be seen how DeSantis will navigate these challenges and regain momentum in his bid for the presidency. As the race unfolds, political observers and voters will closely watch the developments and the impact they may have on the 2024 GOP nomination.
