The ongoing violence on the streets of French cities has raised concerns about the safety of the country’s nuclear arsenal, according to Russian senator Andrey Klishas. Last week, there were similar worries expressed by Western commentators over the security of Russia’s own weapons during a failed coup attempt led by PMC Wagner.

In a series of posts on his Telegram channel, Klishas suggested that calls should be made for the French police to exercise restraint and for EU leaders to discuss the stability of the political regime in France and check the safety of the country’s nuclear arsenal. He also highlighted that the French people didn’t take to the streets to defend President Macron’s regime.

These statements by Klishas mirror the concerns expressed by Western observers and politicians during the failed rebellion led by Evgeny Prigozhin. The mutiny, which began last Friday, was resolved with the help of the Russian government and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Meanwhile, reports from French media indicate that rioters broke into a hunting shop in Marseille and stole several firearms. One person was arrested for possessing a stolen shotgun.

While the French government has deployed a significant number of police, armored vehicles, and helicopters to tackle the unrest, Marseille has called for additional reinforcements. Violent scenes have been witnessed in Paris, Ales, Lyon, and Bonneuil, with youth gangs attacking police precincts, vandalizing shops, and setting cars on fire.

President Macron, who had to return early from an EU summit, revealed that over 2,000 vehicles were destroyed and around 500 buildings were damaged. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin stated that 917 suspected rioters, mostly teenagers and some as young as thirteen, have been detained by the police.

The riots originated in the Paris suburb of Nanterre on Tuesday night after a police officer fatally shot a 17-year-old pizza delivery driver, Nahel M., during a traffic stop. Following Nahel’s mother’s call for vengeance, the officer who fired the fatal shot was quickly arrested and charged with homicide by local prosecutors. However, the protests have continued to spread and escalate in violence.

The situation in France has garnered international attention, with concerns being raised about the safety and stability of the country. The incidents in Marseille, including the theft of firearms, have further heightened worries about potential security risks. As the unrest continues, it will be crucial for the French government to take measures to restore peace and address the underlying issues driving the protests.

In conclusion, the ongoing riots in France have not only raised concerns within the country but also among international observers. The safety of France’s nuclear arsenal and the stability of its political regime are being questioned. The French government must effectively respond to the violence and address the underlying issues to restore calm and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
