Deion Sanders, the first-year Colorado coach, will be unable to attend Pac-12 media day due to upcoming medical procedures. Sanders announced on Wednesday, through an Instagram post, that he will undergo a procedure to remove a blood clot from his right leg and correct the alignment of his toes on his left foot. The surgeries are scheduled for Thursday, while the Pac-12 media day is set to take place in Las Vegas on Friday.

In a statement, the school expressed their well-wishes for Sanders’ fast recovery and assured everyone that he will be back in time for fall camp. It was just a month ago that Sanders had surgery to treat a blood clot in his leg. He has been dealing with foot issues since 2021 when he had to have two toes amputated at Jackson State due to blood clot complications.

Sanders explained in his latest social media post that the upcoming procedure aims to fix the discomfort he has been experiencing in his shoe caused by two toes on his left foot. Despite these health challenges, Sanders remains determined to lead his team in their season opener against TCU on September 2. He expressed confidence in his doctors and addressed speculations about unconventional solutions, stating that he appreciates the support but understands that toes cannot actually grow back.

While Sanders will not be present at the Pac-12 media day, defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will represent the Buffaloes. The event will also feature Sanders’ son, Shedeur Sanders, who is a quarterback for the team. Additionally, Travis Hunter, a transfer from Jackson State, will participate. Hunter was recently named to the preseason All-Pac-12 first team as a defensive back and special teams player, and he also received an honorable-mention designation as a wide receiver.

Deion Sanders was brought in as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes in December with the task of turning the team around following a disappointing 1-11 season in 2022. Despite his health challenges, Sanders remains dedicated to his role and is eagerly anticipating his return to coaching after his recovery. The University of Colorado expresses their support for him and looks forward to his comeback.

In conclusion, Deion Sanders, the Colorado coach, will miss the Pac-12 media day due to medical procedures to address a blood clot in his leg and discomfort in his toes. While he undergoes surgery, Sanders is expected to return in time for fall camp. The Buffaloes’ coaching staff and players will be present at the media day, with defensive coordinator Charles Kelly representing the team. Sanders’ determination and commitment to his role as head coach remain unwavering, and the University of Colorado stands behind him during his recovery.
