Albanese’s censorship methods are being compared to “autocratic Russia” by the media.
Bizarrely, it’s actually the main stream media who will benefit most from Labor’s proposed changes.
ABC, SBS, 9, 10 and 7 will all receive special treatment on smart devices, which are brand new distribution points and have nothing to do with their free to air licences.
So why is Labor doing this? The proposal paper is shamelessly honest. All of the aforementioned companies are struggling with their revenue to the degree that their long-term survivability is being called into question.
