ANR’s Chinese Correspondent “What is the truth, and what is falsehood?”
By Tina Gu
It has become very confusing to public that since FDA revokes emergency use ruling for hydroxychloroquine on 15th June 2020, CNN recently officially reported that the controversial antimalarial drug Hydroxychloroquine helped Covid-19 patients better survive in the hospital. CNN reported on 3rd July 2020 said: a team at Henry Ford Health System in southeast Michigan said their study of 2,541 hospitalized patients found that those given hydroxychloroquine were much less likely to die. The Henry Ford team said they believe their findings show hydroxychloroquine could be potentially useful as a treatment for coronavirus. And in the right settings, could be a lifesaver for patients.
Hydroxychloroquie, which is used to treat malaria, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis, Trump said it shows “tremendous promise” of working against coronavirus as well. People call it “Trump’s medicine”. In a few short months, through the ups and downs of the fate. Earlier, all the media and medical experts went on a full-scale attack aganist the drug’s effectiveness, leading the FDA to call it quits. This included the same media CNN on date 22nd April reported“ finds no benefit, higher death rate in patients taking hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19”. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases the major person who discredit the Hydroxychloroquie, the major person who discredit the Hydroxychloroquie, said on 27th May 2020:” there’s no evidence that shows the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is effective at treating COVID-19” during a CNN interview. And on 20th June 2020, National Institutes of Health halted clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine “due to the data from this study indicate that this drug provided no additional benefit compared to placebo control for the treatment of COVID-19 in hospitalized patients.”
And the interesting thing is that, NIH, the one who concluded the clinical trial on hydroxychloroquine“finds no benefit” but showed strongly support to another drugs called Remdesivir from Gilead. Something ridiculous happened on 29th April 2020, 《The Lancet》 reported the data of Remdesivir’s clinical trial in China shows motality rate of Placebo group is even lower than Remdesivir group. In order to cover it up, exactly in the same day, same time, NIH announced in their official website that their clinical trial showed Remdesivir accelerates recovery from COVID-19. And in the same day Gilead ’ s share rose 2% in afternoon trading. Are we watching a drama? Something is not working at all in China but become lifesaver in the USA. Is the drug powerful, or is the media powerful? And the Gilead company did not show any clinical data but observational data to conclude to public which is a “joke” according to Professor Dr.Walid Gellad at university of Pittsburgh’s medical school. But seems FDA closed their eyes and accepted it and issued an emergency use authority on 1st May 2020.
God only knows if Remdesivir will work. The public only can follow the official institution ’ s conclusion and instruction. The different message delivery from the president and his top medical expert shows clearly a struggle between two different factions. As a public, we can’t tell who is wrong and who is right. But one thing we could know, Hydroxychloroquine is an inexpensive generic drug made by several companies, so no one company stands to make much money off it. Hydroxychloroquine is only cost $1.00/per day for treatment, while the other one, Remdesivir cost estimated $600.00 /per day.
And another truth is, some news recently disclosed the financial relationships between eight members of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) expert COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel has with Gilead. And meanwhile , National Institutes of Health (NIH) own a financial stake in the Bill Gates-funded Moderna Coronavirus vaccine. In a recently Economic Club panel discussion, the director of NIH, Francis Collins admitted “we do have some particular stake in the intellectual property in Moderna’s Vaccine”. The agreements between NIH and Moderna suggest that NIH has not transferred its rights, but instead maintains a joint stake.
In reality, The National Institutes of Health(NIH) has played a critical role in coronavirus research for years. When you go digging deeper, you will find Dr. Anthony Fauci’s NIAID, which funded the Bat Coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, believed to be the source of the outbreak, is part of NIH. And the cooperation reseach of mRNA1273 vaccine between Moderna and National Insititutes of Health predates the COVID-19 outbreak in China, which is intriguing.
On 1st July 2020, much fake news described “Trump Administration” has bought up almost all of the world’s supply of Remdesivir, but actually is Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)’s BRADA office brought it up, and this BRADA office was established in 2006 through the“Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act(PAHPA) “which was signed into law by President George W.Bush, who Trump called him’ criminal’. So it is not “Trump Administration”, it is “Trump’s disobedient administration “brought it up!
It is clear that, there are financial drivers in this system. How can the public trust a profit-driven federal government to make impartial decisions on coronavirus pandemic policy. Seems Trump has a lot to clean up, which is his disobedient administration!
