The Colonel is an American, and I’m an Englishman, but essentially we come from the same place. I can draw parallels between his formative years and my own. Particularly with regard to the attitude people had to others in their communities. Life was a damn sight harder then than it is now, but our parents just dug in and did the best they could for their families. I’m just a year older than the Colonel but I can relate perfectly to his recollection of how things were then. I happen to think that great change is coming, worldwide, and I sincerely hope that those old values can be resurrected.
