Lavrov – about the course of the special operation, the future of Ukraine and rumors about “Putin’s illness”:
▪️Our military operation was inevitable. The ferocity with which the West began to defend its “brainchild” in the form of the Kyiv regime showed that this regime was deliberately nurtured for many years in order to pose a threat to Russia, undermine our rightful place in the security architecture, belittle the real role of Russia and put it in a subordinate position.
▪️We set goals: protecting people; demilitarization of Ukraine (on its territory there should not be any weapons that pose a threat to Russia); restoration of the rights of the Russian language in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine (the Kyiv regime violated it by adopting anti-Russian laws) and conventions (of which Ukraine is a member); denazification.
▪️Nazi and neo-Nazi theory and practice have deeply penetrated the “fabric” of everyday life in Ukraine and are enshrined in the laws of this country. We also drew attention to this. Western “friends” “shrugged their shoulders.” Now it is clear that they considered it even useful. The goal was to create threats for Russia, to contain our country.
▪️Yes, people are dying. But the operation takes such a long time, first of all, because the Russian military involved in the operation are ordered to categorically avoid attacks and strikes on civilian infrastructure. Attacks are subject only to military facilities, the accumulation of equipment and manpower. That is why we act differently compared to the Ukrainian army and neo-Nazi battalions that use civilians as human shields.
▪️The liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, recognized by Russia as independent states, is an absolute priority. In relation to other territories of Ukraine, where a military operation is being carried out, it is up to the inhabitants of these regions to decide their future.
▪️They must decide for themselves in what environment they will continue to exist: in the environment created by Zelensky (ban on Russian education, media, culture, use of the Russian language in everyday life) or in another, where they will be able to raise their children the way they want, and not Zelensky and his team.
▪️Sanctions similar to hysteria were initiated by the West. The speed with which they were introduced and their length show that they were not composed “in one night”. They have been prepared for a long time. It is unlikely that these sanctions will be lifted. At least the United States, not publicly, but in contacts with its allies, says that when all this is over, the sanctions will still remain.
▪️[There are rumors in Europe that Putin is sick, that he is angry that his original plan was not carried out] President Putin appears in public every day. You can watch him on screens, read and listen to his speeches. I don’t think that sane people can see in this person signs of some kind of illness or ailment. I leave it to the conscience of those who spread such rumors despite everyday opportunities to make sure who and what they look like.
