Yandex has been around for quite a while and I find the browser and google like tools superior to what Google offers. Sadly, if I have to share my data, I trust Yandex over Google.

Excellent news, looking for even more independant digital platforms.
The USA digital systems are an extention of its military.

This had to come, the Google near monopoly of what you’re allowed to see and hear could not be allowed to continue, no one entity can be safely allowed to have that much power, however good it’s intentions. And I’m by no means convinced that Google’s intentions are always good.

I always wonder how google was able and specially google earth to get in every corner of the world with no challenge from any governments …..imo I think US owns google.

I hope, I sincerely hope it will be available in South Africa. I’ve notised a ‘translate’ button which is most welcome. I’ve just read a lot of disinformation on Google. I’m not going to wish Russia good luck because I know they can and will succeed.

Yandex already had the best image reverse engine. Also it doesn’t filter searches which are heavily filtered by Google due to copyright and or other bs. Recently I have used Yandex. Only downside is it shows searches in Russian and not in English.

Yandex is great, much more open and fair, so I switched years ago. Only recently I moved from FB to Telegram that is faster, non-spying and lacking the political censorship of Facebook. All the reporter from the major conflict zones have moved to Telegram to avoid the censorship of US controlled information sources.Reporters on both sides of various conflicts have moved to Telegram because it is the only fair system.
Although YouTube is very controlling, it is still better than other Google owned platforms. It is much more open than any other US media that has reach.
The world is splitting into a multipolar world with 80% of world population outside of the US controlled systems so it is only logical that regions or countries limit the intense propaganda that the US presents to the entire world via the big tech companies in the US that are tightly connected to the deepstate. No one but the corrupt benefits from the massive sea of nonsense propaganda that come from the US. I am American but have traveled extensively and have lived outside that bubble for 23 years. Everytime I return to the US, 5 times in 23 years, it is shocking how dishonest all corporate media is. Americans are likely the most misinformed and mal-informed large population ever.
Yandex is into a little of everything such as ride share, electric scooters everywhere, taxi and community cars. Their maps app is great, with so much more useful information than Google maps. I can look at Yandex Maps and it tells me which bus is coming down the street and its route so I can use the right one as one example, continuosly updating in smooth moving graphics. I can order good or shoes or anything elese from almost any retailer, shopping center, or any store. There is no sense even driving a car when Yandex Drive is as cheap as $0.37 km. My gf does not even shop anymore, 4-5 times a day groceries, clothing, cat supplies etc are delivered to the door for no additional charge.
Usually it is less than 30 minutes from placing the order, to delivery even in this large city of 7million people.

We are all sick of Google and the rest of them

Russians making a living from their Google/ YouTube channels will suffer. Yandex unfortunately does not have that income capacity.

Yandex….one Google political donation away from being a threat to US national security.
