Vic Police online trawling now to harass innocent Victorians in their own home for simply “liking a Facebook post”.
Police are now turning up on the doorstep of Victorian residents, residents who haven’t been able to leave their homes or suburbs for months, and are issuing this letter just because they “liked” online posts protesting the heavy-handed imposition of lock-down measures. If charging people with “incitement” is suddenly back in vogue, shouldn’t menace be too!? Intimidating citizens with a larger $20,000 fine is aimed solely at such matters never coming before a magistrate (where such specious charges are likely to be quashed anyway, because, like me, courts don’t appreciate police officers stalking & profiling law-abiding citizens, either in person or online) I’ve already had four “drive-bys” since giving my address to the local police on Saturday. These are the exact same tactics once deployed in East Germany or by McCarthyism and should be roundly rejected by liberals and conservatives alike. I am sick of the craven silence of most Australians. As witnesses to this great terror, you are yourself now complicit by your inaction, and supine lack of solidarity.
