Alexander Ben Zvi, Israel’s ambassador to Russia, has declared that those advocating for the eradication of the world are not really defending Muslims, but are using it as an excuse to destroy Jews. This was in response to demonstrations in support of the Palestinians, trapped in Gaza due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The envoy stated that these protests are nothing but “manifestations of anti-Semitism”.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been ongoing for a long time now and has resulted in numerous pro-Palestinian rallies all around the world. These protests have intensified since Israel began its military operation against Gaza following an attack by Hamas on October 7th. As many as 300,000 people joined a march in support of Palestine in London on the same day, highlighting the widespread nature of these demonstrations.

Ambassador Ben Zvi expressed his concern that these demonstrations were not just anti-Israel or anti-Jewish, but were a new form of anti-Semitism. According to him, the protests were not pro-Muslim, but were specifically against Israel and Jews. His comments came during a time when pro-Palestinian protesters marched on the home of US President Joe Biden, accusing him of supporting Palestinian “genocide”. It’s crucial to point out here that the ambassador’s comments reflect the perspectives of the Israeli government.

The ambassador also highlighted a popular slogan among pro-Palestinian protesters, which states ‘from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’, suggesting that it points to the destruction of the State of Israel. He warned that Israel would not go down without a fight, and that they would defend themselves at any cost, making it clear that they would not allow a repeat of what happened during the Holocaust. This has sparked further controversy and heated discussions about the ongoing conflict.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has already claimed many lives, with around 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians, being killed in the initial attack by Hamas. In response, Israel launched a massive bombing campaign against Gaza, followed by a ground operation, resulting in the loss of over 10,800 Palestinian lives, according to the World Health Organization. This has led to widespread concerns from the international community, with many calling for an end to the ongoing violence and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

In conclusion, the conflict between Israel and Palestine is undeniably complex and deeply rooted in historical, religious, and geopolitical issues. The ongoing violence and loss of innocent lives are deeply concerning and need to be addressed urgently. The international community, including the United Nations, has a crucial role to play in facilitating peace talks and negotiations between the parties involved. Only through diplomatic efforts and dialogue can a long-lasting and sustainable solution be achieved, and the cycle of violence and suffering be brought to an end.
