North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was presented with a collection of high-tech drones and military gear during his recent visit to Russia. The gifts, which included five kamikaze-drones and a Geran-25 surveillance drone, were given to Kim by the governor of Russia’s Primorsky Region, Oleg Kozhemyako.
In addition to the drones, Kim was also presented with a full set of body armor specifically designed for assault operations. The state-of-the-art gear provided protection to vital areas such as the chest, shoulders, throat, and groin, while also being much lighter than any comparable equipment on the market.
These gifts were given to Kim as he and Kozhemyako visited the Far East Street Exhibition on Russky Island in Vladivostok. The purpose of their visit was to inspect the advanced military hardware being produced in the Primorsky Region for Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.
During his visit, Kim also met with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu. Photos published by North Korea’s state-run news agency, KCNA, showed Kim wearing the famous Russian ushanka fur hat with ear-covering flaps, which was presumably gifted to him by Shoigu.
In addition to his military engagements, Kim also had the opportunity to visit various cultural and educational sites. He toured the Primorsky Aquarium, which is the largest in Russia and houses a wide variety of aquatic fauna. Kim enjoyed watching performances by beluga whales, bottlenose dolphins, and a fur seal, but he was particularly impressed by a walrus that entertained the audience by blowing air kisses.
Kim’s visit also included a trip to Far Eastern Federal University, where he inspected the campus and interacted with North Korean students. Currently, 43 North Koreans are studying at the university, according to reports.
The visit concluded with Kim boarding his armored train at a train station in the Primorsky Region. As he bid farewell to the Russian officials who had gathered to see him off, Kim could be seen waving his hand and saluting.
Overall, Kim Jong-un’s visit to Russia was marked by a combination of military engagements, cultural experiences, and educational interactions. It provided an opportunity for him to further strengthen diplomatic ties with Russia and explore potential areas of cooperation.
Earlier in the visit, Kim had the chance to tour the Vostochny Cosmodrome in the Amur Region and hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also visited military and civilian aviation plants, where he was shown various aircraft, including a MiG-31 armed with the Kinzhal hypersonic missile.
In addition, Kim visited the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate of Russia’s Pacific Fleet and attended a performance of “Sleeping Beauty” at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater.
Overall, these engagements and gifts during Kim’s visit to Russia underscore the close relationship between North Korea and Russia, particularly in terms of military cooperation and diplomatic ties.
