A man in northern Mexico, identified only as ‘Carlos N.’, has been arrested for terrorizing and robbing locals using a knife-wielding Chucky doll, a popular horror movie character. The man is accused of disturbing public order, endangering the public, and demanding money from them in the city of Monclova, located in the northern state of Coahuila. Juan Raul Alcocer, a former director of the Monclova Police, stated that the man would put the doll in people’s faces and scare them, which is considered an offense and led to his arrest.
During the incident, Carlos N. was reportedly under the influence of an illicit substance. The incident took place in the city’s main public square, and both Carlos N. and the Chucky doll were taken to a local police precinct where they were handcuffed and had their mugshots taken. The Chucky doll, still holding a large knife, was propped up against a wall and held up by its hair for the mugshot.
However, the police officer who handcuffed the doll, reportedly at the request of journalists, faced criticism for the move. Alcocer emphasized the need for police officers to take their job and regulations seriously, rather than participating in such games.
The Chucky doll, known as the “demon doll,” gained fame through the ‘Child’s Play’ horror movie series, starting with the release of the first film in 1988. The film depicts a mother who unknowingly gives her son a doll possessed by the spirit of a serial murderer. The original movie led to seven sequels. In the UK, ‘Child’s Play 3’ was believed to have influenced two murder cases in 1992 and 1993. As a result, viewing of the movie was restricted, and some video-rental chains refused to carry copies of the film in their stores.
The arrest of Carlos N. and the subsequent media attention highlight the impact and fear associated with horror movie characters in real-life situations. The use of such iconic fictional characters to commit crimes is disturbing and adds a layer of terror to the incidents. The arrest also serves as a reminder for law enforcement officers to remain professional and avoid engaging in activities that may compromise their role as enforcers of the law.
The incident with the Chucky doll has gained widespread attention and has been shared on social media platforms. The eerie nature of the story and the connection to a popular horror movie franchise have captivated the public’s interest. It serves as a reminder of the power of storytelling and the impact it can have on society, both in entertainment and in real-life situations.
