In the span of just 12 hours, three individuals lost their lives in a series of violent incidents in Stockholm, Sweden. The disturbing events began on Wednesday evening when an 18-year-old man, who happened to be a popular local rapper, was executed on a soccer field in southern Stockholm. The tragic incident occurred while children were undergoing training. Video footage of the crime has been circulating on social media, and the police are currently searching for multiple assailants. Authorities suspect that this killing may be connected to an ongoing gang war in the city.
According to the Aftonbladet newspaper, the gang war involves two drug kingpins with immigrant backgrounds, Rawa Majid, also known as ‘The Kurdish Fox’, and Mikael Ahlström Tenezos, nicknamed ‘The Greek’. They are both vying for control of the drug market. After a period of relative calm earlier this year, tensions between the two sides reignited due to an internal dispute between Majid and one of his associates named Ismail Abdo. This disagreement has sparked a new wave of violence and murder.
Recent events suggest that the conflict has escalated to terrifying proportions. On Thursday morning, a bomb attack targeted a house in the Stockholm suburb of Uppsala, with the intention of killing one of Majid’s relatives. Tragically, the bomb was mistakenly placed next to a neighboring house, resulting in the death of an innocent woman who had no connection to the gang. The blast demolished two houses and caused damage to several others. Two suspects have been apprehended, and the police are currently investigating the incident’s links to the ongoing Majid-Abdo dispute.
The third killing occurred at midnight in the suburb of Jordbro. Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots, and upon arrival, law enforcement discovered two men who had been shot. Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to his injuries. Three individuals have been arrested, and authorities are examining potential connections to the gang war.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson addressed the nation following these tragic events, acknowledging that many had foreseen such violence. He attributed the surge in fatal shootings, which has tripled over the last decade, to the flawed immigration policies of previous governments. Between the years 2015 and 2022, Sweden admitted over 800,000 predominantly Middle Eastern and North African immigrants. The Prime Minister announced that the government would respond to the recent murders, as well as the nine other fatal shootings that have occurred this month, by deploying the military to support the police in their efforts against criminal gangs.
The situation has heightened concerns about public safety in Stockholm and the overall security of the city’s residents. These recent acts of violence underscore the urgent need for effective measures to address gang-related criminal activities and to ensure the safety of the local population. As investigations into these incidents continue, the Swedish government will undoubtedly be under significant pressure to find long-term solutions to prevent further loss of life.
