The Secret Service announced on Thursday that the owner of the bag of cocaine found in a White House locker earlier this month remains unknown, and the case has been closed due to a lack of evidence. In a statement, the Secret Service explained that there was no surveillance video footage that could provide leads for investigators to identify the person who deposited the substance in the locker. Additionally, the FBI laboratory test did not develop any latent fingerprints, and there was insufficient DNA present for investigative comparisons.

Unfortunately, the lack of evidence means that the investigators were unable to single out a person of interest from the hundreds of individuals who passed through the area where the cocaine was discovered. As a result, the Secret Service’s investigation has been closed due to a lack of physical evidence.

The bag of cocaine was initially found on July 2 in a storage locker used for depositing personal items that are not permitted in the secure area of the West Wing. The discovery led to the evacuation of the building due to concerns that the white powder could be a biological weapon like anthrax. Field tests quickly revealed that the substance was actually cocaine, and a lab test later confirmed this.

Cocaine is classified as a Schedule II narcotic in the US, making it illegal to possess without a doctor’s prescription. It is worth noting that President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has openly admitted to his addiction to cocaine in a recent memoir. Video evidence of his drug use was found on a laptop he had abandoned at a Delaware repair shop.

Former President Donald Trump has suggested that the bag of cocaine may have belonged to either Hunter or his father, President Biden. He has predicted that the scandal will be quickly covered up. However, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has insisted that the entire First Family was at the Camp David presidential retreat over the weekend when the cocaine was found.

During the investigation, the Secret Service examined White House staff, contractors, members of the military, and some visitors who may have passed through the area. It is important to note that the nearby Situation Room is currently undergoing renovations and is not in use for secure meetings.

The House Oversight Committee chair, James Comer, has demanded a briefing from the Secret Service about the case. In a letter sent last week, Comer described the presence of drugs in the West Wing as “unacceptable and a shameful moment in the White House’s history.”

After a closed-doors briefing on Thursday morning, additional details about the case emerged. Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican, revealed that the bag of cocaine was found in locker number 50, and the key to that locker is still missing. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia also stated that the Secret Service had narrowed down the list of suspects to 500 names but decided not to drug-test any of them.

The discovery of the bag of cocaine in a locker within the White House has raised concerns about security and accountability within the administration. Representative Tim Burchett of Tennessee expressed his outrage, stating that someone should lose their job over this security breach, emphasizing that the White House is supposed to be the most secure building in the United States and the world.

In conclusion, the investigation into the bag of cocaine found in a White House locker earlier this month has been closed due to a lack of evidence. The owner of the bag remains unknown, and despite efforts to identify the individual, no conclusive leads could be obtained. The presence of drugs in the White House has sparked discussions about security and accountability within the administration.
