YouTube has deleted the account of former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter and removed all of his videos from the platform. Ritter claims that his channel, called ‘The Scott Ritter Show’, was accused of violating YouTube’s terms of service. He expressed his frustration on Twitter, stating that his channel had been flagged for ‘hate speech’ without any warning or specific examples of the offense.
Ritter explained that his show aimed to bring Russian voices to an American and Western audience. He argued that there was no hate speech in any of his episodes unless unique content from silenced voices is considered hateful. In addition to Ritter’s channel, YouTube also deleted the ‘Ask The Inspector’ channel. Ritter believes that this is a targeted effort to minimize his voice and the voices of his guests, as well as those who asked probing questions about pressing issues. Despite the deletion of his channels, Ritter remains determined, stating that those behind this effort will not succeed. He emphasized the existence of a vast social media world beyond YouTube and warned others still on the platform that they too may face deletion if they do not conform.
Ritter revealed his plans to move his shows to Rumble, an alternative platform to YouTube. He sees this as a way to continue sharing his content and reaching his audience despite the challenges posed by YouTube’s actions.
